The new GEARTAC TRAINING LEASH was born out of necessity. It is the missing link between the GEARTAC K9 hands free walking device and our GEARTAC XBODY HARNESS. When walking hands free and using your upper body to control your dog you stop releasing energy down the leash and calm your dog lowering their anxiety and willingness to pull. In conjunction with the XBODY harness you now have a comfortable and orthopedically designed system to make your walking experience much more enjoyable. Learn more about our XBODY harness and it's many orthopedic and quality built design features. While using a harness is more orthopedically sound and comfortable for your dog preventing problems with air way constriction and false releases like you would have with a collar, a harness can sometimes make a dog pull more because of the added strength and power they generate from it's fit.
This is where the GEARTAC TRAINING LEASH fits in. We are not big believers of "front hook" style or "no pull' harness designs. We have found they are solely made to always correct the dog when walking. This constant re-direction and pulling to the side has been proven to disturb the dogs' posture and pinch nerves. some of the designs actually compress the shoulder blades together and pinch the central nerve system running straight through the breast plate of your dog. We do not like the fact that your dog may suffer from nerve damage, pinched nerves, or orthopedic problems from walking crooked. This style of walking can disrupt the spinal alignment and be uncomfortable for your dog. It would be like wearing a high heel on one foot and a sneaker on the other, not good!
Our approach to using a harness with a front hook for correction is much different. We believe you should always use the heavy duty rear hook on the back of the harness for your main connection. This will allow you to have a strong tight connection with your dog and it will keep them orthopedically straight when they are walking. Using the GEARTAC TRAINING LEASH with our XBODY harness and the GEARTAC K9 creates an awesome system built for strength, stability, and hands free walking. This alone, with the hands free energy release will begin to correct your dogs pulling habits!
The amazing difference between our set up and the other devices on the market is one added feature! The GEARTAC TRAINING LEASH has two leads built in, one for the rear connection which stays tight on the dogs rear hook and one that can be connected to the built in front hook or "no-pull" hook on the front of the XBODY harness and used separately to re-direct your dog. Having the short lead on the GEARTAC TRAINING LEASH tight to the dog and adjusting the long front lead to be "slack" allows the front hook to disengage or not be used as the primary restraint connection. It is similar to having reins on a horse, you use one side or the other separately to direct your dog. When you are not constantly re-directing your dog with the front hook like other designs on the market you now take the pressure and the twisting nature away from the walking. One should only correct when your dog needs it. It should be a quick tug on the long lead and then relax the line. This is so much safer for your dogs posture and orthopedics.
